League Rules
CBLNJ will adhere to High School Basketball Rules with the following exceptions:
Game Format
- Games will consist of two 20-minute halves.
- The clock will stop during the final minute of the first half.
- The clock will stop during the final two minutes of the second half, except if a team is up 20.
Fouls and Bonus
- A player will foul out of the game after committing five personal fouls.
- A team will enter the 1-and-1 bonus after committing seven team fouls in a half.
- A team will enter the double-bonus situation after committing 10 team fouls in a half.
Timeouts
- Each team will receive three total timeouts per game.
Overtime
- The first overtime period will be two minutes long, with the clock stopping during the final 30 seconds.
- The second overtime period will be one minute long, with the clock stopping during the final 30 seconds.
- If the game remains tied after two overtime periods, the third overtime will be sudden death.
- No timeouts will be allowed during the third overtime period.
Basketball Size
- Girls will use a 28.5-inch basketball.
- Boys in fifth grade and below will use a 28.5-inch basketball.
- Boys in sixth grade and above will use a 29.5-inch basketball.
Pressing Rules
- Full-court pressing is allowed at all levels.
- A team may not press once it has a lead of 20 or more points.
- For fourth grade and below, a team may not press once it has a lead of 15 or more points.
